DAAD appoints visiting faculty (Lektoren) for German as a foreign language and other disciplines at various universities in the region. DAAD Lektors provide information about German language, culture, society, history, politics and support the host universities with expertise and information about developments in the field.
DAAD Language Assistants (Sprachassistenten) are fresh graduates or postgraduates from Germany who have specialised in German Studies or German as a Foreign Language. They teach German language.
At present the network covers Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Jawaharlal Nehru University, University of Delhi, University of Pune and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

Jan-Helge Weidemann joined the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies of the Delhi University as DAAD lecturer in August of 2020. Until 2018, he had been teaching in Guangzhou and Shanghai (China) for six years in total. He received his bachelor's degree from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, in History and Theory of Art and Literature, which he followed up with an MA in Film Studies at the University of Southampton in the UK. He completed his PhD in Literature at Jacobs University in 2012, writing about cinematic experience from the perspective of media anthropology.

Lisa Huber has a background of Comparative Studies, German Literature and Linguistic Sciences, which she studied at the University of Saarland. After occupying various positions in the field of cultural relations and education, both in Germany and abroad, she worked as Deputy Director of the Goethe Institute in Bandung, Indonesia from 2016 to 2019. She is DAAD-Lecturer in India since May 2019, at the Department of Foreign Languages, SPPU (Pune University), where she mainly teaches German literature to Master students.
