Web Session: PSGIAS German School of Technology
Even Information
Program Overview
The PSGIAS German School of Technology is a joint initiative of PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, one of India’s most prestigious technical institutions, and the Indo-German Centre for Higher Education (IGCHE), Germany.
IGCHE is part of the German University Consortium for International Cooperation (DHIK), a network of 37 German universities.
Study Programs
The program offers engineering and computer science bachelor’s programs following a 3+1 study model, combining a strong technical curriculum with intensive German language training.
Career Prospects
Engineers and computer scientists with international experience are in strong demand in the Indo-German business environment, both in Germany and in India. Beyond technical expertise, employers increasingly value graduates with intercultural competence and the ability to work effectively across different professional cultures.
Program Structure (3+1 Model)
The program follows a clearly structured 3+1 pathway:
- Three years in India
Engineering coursework at PSG, German language training up to C1 level, guest lectures by German professors, joint lab experiments with German peers (using augmented reality), summer schools, and German Club activities. This phase allows students to gradually adapt to academic and cultural expectations. - One year in Germany
Academic coursework taught in German at a partner university, followed by an industry-based internship and bachelor’s thesis. - Alumni Outcomes
Approximately 70% of alumni are currently employed as engineers in Germany. The remaining 30% work in India, often in companies with close institutional or economic ties to Germany.
Admission Requirements
Students who have completed 12th grade or an equivalent qualification, meeting the required minimum aggregate (depending on the chosen program), are eligible to apply.
Funding and Institutional Support
With the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the PSGIAS German School of Technology is expanding its student intake, strengthening the involvement of German guest lecturers in India, and further deepening cooperation with industry partners.
