Early Career Research Symposium (ECR) for the Humanities and Social Sciences: Resilient Societies
More than 100 PhD students and postdoctoral candidates from various streams and subjects of the humanities in Germany and South Asia handed in abstracts for the symposium. The 30 selected speakers presented their research work in eight parallel sessions with different focus topics. The focus areas were Public Health, Poverty & Development, Crisis Management, Sustainability and Urbanisation, to name a few. Moreover, the participants got the opportunity to engage with other scientists, experts and fellow researchers from various universities and research institutions.
The symposium was concluded with a public panel discussion (Societal Transformations for a Resilient Future) jointly organised with the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH). Five international experts from the fields of Anthropology, Sociology, Pedagogy, and Gender Studies discussed complex societal developments for a resilient future.
The three-day event focused primarily on the humanities and social sciences. Furthermore, the cooperation of the three German organizations enabled to cover a wide range of topics; an outreach to a larger group of academics and experts was accomplished.
